In November, the municipality of Tame hosts the "Cotiza de Oro Festival", a cultural event dedicated to celebrating joropo, the music and dance genre that captures the spirit of Colombia’s eastern plains, known as the "Llanos Orientales".

The festival features children and young students from schools and dance academies in Tame and nearby towns like Fortul and Hato Corozal (Casanare), competing in dance categories such as traditional joropo and show dance.

They showcase their skills with the quick, intricate steps that characterize this dance. The event also includes live performances of "llanera" music, featuring instruments like the harp, cuatro, and maracas, creating a vibrant and authentic atmosphere.

The "Cotiza de Oro", named after the traditional footwear worn in joropo, is awarded to the best dancers and groups, recognizing their talent, effort, and dedication to preserving the region’s folklore.

The Cotiza de Oro Festival not only fosters a love for joropo among new generations but also strengthens Tame’s cultural identity, establishing this municipality in Arauca as a bastion of llanero folklore and the musical traditions of Colombia’s Llanos Orientales.
